Fairtrade 25 Year Celebration Factsheet

From the Fairtrade Schools Website......

"What does the FAIRTRADE Mark have in common with The Lion King, the Eurotunnel and the TV series Friends?

All of them launched in 1994, making them all 25 years old this year!

That’s a quarter of a century!

Powered by people and community action, Fairtrade has grown from an idea about justice and fairness among a few into a household name. It’s made us think more about where our food comes from and the people who produce the food, drink and clothing we rely on every day.

We’ll be celebrating from mid-September to mid-October, especially around the weekend of 5-6 October so you can join in as and when you would like.
Join the Party!
Why not hold a 25th birthday party in your school to celebrate Fairtrade’s achievements and your part in the movement!
There are lots of things you could do:
-
Make Fairtrade cakes and invite the local community to celebrate with you
-
Join a Fairtrade Towns Group and hold an event together
-
Hold a Fairtrade Assembly – we have a script ready to download
-
Make the Mark in a creative way – in a flower-bed, on cup-cakes, with a group of students wearing the Fairtrade colours!
Whatever you do let us know about it by email at schools@fairtrade.org.uk or on Twitter.
There will be balloons, stickers and other resources available from our online shop nearer the time."
