New Life Fairtrade Vintage Tea For Air Ambulance

New Life Christian Fellowship hosted another Fairtrade Vintage Tea last bank holiday weekend. The usual array of home and locally made cakes, with scones and clotted cream were served with Fairtrade tea and coffee to visitors, who were both locals and holiday makers.

"We are visitors to Pembrokeshire and saw the event advertised in the Tenby Observer, we thought we would come along and really enjoyed the Vintage Tea" shared two holidaymakers.

During the Vintage Tea a keen, young antiques collector,  George, Tenby Juniors, brought along items to sell, with all profits going to the Wales Air Ambulance. "George buys little trinkets from charity and antique shops. He asked if he could sell them and give the profits to Air Ambulance. He is Pembrokeshire's own David Dickinson!" shared George's mum.

The event was free to all who visited, but £100 was collected in donations on the day. Further donations were made on the Sunday during New Life Christian Fellowship's service, with George's antiques sales, this totalled £200.

Further Vintage Teas will be held in the hope of making connections with the local community:
"We meet in Kilgetty every week as a Church group, and want to host events that people will enjoy and feel comfortable attending too. We hope we can get to know more people in the community and make connections" shared The hosts.

The next Vintage Tea is planned for the last Saturday in June, in Kilgetty Community Centre.

New Life Christian Fellowship meet every Sunday in Kilgetty Community Centre, all are welcome.  Please call 07788270871 if you want someone to talk to or pray for you.

New Life Community Vintage Tea

Lots of local people enjoyed Fairtrade tea and coffee, with delicious home made cakes, as New Life Christian Fellowship hosted a Vintage Tea and Easter Egg Hunt at Kilgetty Community Centre on Easter Saturday.

The free event was held to celebrate Easter in the community. Children made a variety of Easter crafts and took part in a Fairtrade Easter Egg Hunt.

"During Easter we remember how Jesus gave everything for us so we can be in God's family. We wanted to share a family event with the local community to celebrate Easter. We thought a Vintage Tea would be a lovely way to do this." said New Life event organisers.

New Life Christian Fellowship bought The Real Easter Eggs because they reflect the true meaning of Easter, are Made from Fairtrade chocolate, and they support Cocoa communities through the Traidcraft Exchange Charity.

"Choosing Fairtrade Easter chocolate means producers receive a fair wage, whilst ensuring that no child labour or trafficking, which often takes place in cocoa production, is involved. Fairtrade workers are also supported by an additional Fairtrade premium, used to improve their communities.” shared Fairtrade Wales School’s Speaker, Sharron Hardwick.

Donations of £300 were made during the event for The Harriet Davis Seaside Holiday Trust For Disabled Children.

"Our first visit to Pembrokeshire was thanks to The Harriet Davis Trust, when we stayed with our son in Harriet's House. Since then this charity has been very dear to us and we are so glad we can support their amazing work today." shared Rhonwen Evans, New Life.

In memory of Harriet, who said using her word chart: “I like to know that everyone has a holiday” The Harriet Davis Trust provides three houses in the Tenby area which are fully adapted and equipped for physically disabled children and a fourth, in Narberth, has been adapted for children with autism and other learning disabilities.

The Trust is permitted to allow use by adults with disabilities and their carers, when the houses are not booked by families with disabled children, this is usually outside of the school holiday periods. Bookings can be taken via www.harriet-davis-trust.org.uk  or call 01834 845197.
