Amroth Baptism Marks New Life Of Faith
A fan of extreme weather on a wet and blustery October afternoon Christine Davies stepped into Amroth sea, declaring her new life of faith and belief in Jesus publicly, as she was baptised by Garry Emlyn and Jinu Zacharia, New Life Church.
Christine shared her 54-year journey from attending Church at 3 years old to her recent baptism. To Christine Church was always the most important part of her week, she understood you shouldn’t be a “Sunday only” Christian, but wasn’t sure how to carry it on during the week. It was a case of accepting the Gospel as true, ending with Jesus’ ascension, sitting at the right hand of God, looking down on us remotely.
Christine was fascinated by the story of Saul’s conversion and his letters to the Churches, she explored proof of Jesus’ existence by reading the earliest Christian and non-Christian writings about Jesus and the birth of Christianity.
“When asked to sing in church I threw everything into making it a technically perfect performance but it was always about my performance. As I joined New Life Church, I started to explore the hymns and I looked at Matt Redman’s “The Heart Of Worship”, it was a lightbulb moment - showing me that performing in Church wasn’t all about me but all about praise to God and a wonderful opportunity to deliver His message. I began to realise that the concept of Jesus actually being with us as a comforter, guide and friend became a reality.” Said Christine.
“Baptism is an act of dying to the old ways and the beginning of a new life, a public declaration of the commitment you have made to God.” Shared Christine.
Christine now understands the need to focus on living as Jesus taught us to live, not on daily worldly distractions, His grace and glory are enough, and her baptism in Amroth Sea was the starting point of this new life of faith in Jesus.
