Who Do You Say I Am......

When you look in the mirror what do you see?

Jesus wants us to see ourselves as He sees us: chosen, loved, free, part of God's family.

If we believe we are who Jesus says we are we could do all things, even greater things than Jesus! Biblical history reports countless miracles; it can be the same today....what stops us?

Jesus taught from a boat about a farmer sowing seed. Some seed got eaten, some burned up, some grew but got choked, some grew and yielded.

The 12 disciples asked Jesus to explain: the sowers seed was The Word from God. As it is spoken sometimes it gets gobbled up by the enemy. Sometimes people respond to God's Word but other weeds (persecution, worries and desires) choke out God. When the seed falls on good ground this is those who receive God's Word, keep it and it produces fruit.

The Word of God is a seed, how will this fair in our hearts?

Does fear ensnare? Do chaos and cares grab your focus? Or are we focusing on how great God is, how He'll provide, and be with us? The Word says "the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."

Which mirror are you looking at....God's blessings or your problems.

Seed growth takes time, correct conditions are needed. When the time's right growth happens. This is like The Word of God, it might take time to grow.

Later Jesus wanted to cross the water. A storm arose. Jesus slept, they woke him saying "don't you care!" Jesus stopped the wind and waves saying "why are you so fearful, don't you have faith?"
They saw many miracles, they still didn't understand who Jesus was!

Our lives might be spiralling into chaos, we shout "don't you care Jesus! " 
That's what the enemy wants us to believe, but the Word says Jesus loves us with an unfailing love. Jesus' love is so powerful is conquers all. Don't listen to the lies, there is a place for you in God's house.

God loves us all and we need to listen to and follow Jesus, as laid out in The Word, not be controlled by circumstances, but knowing the power we have through Jesus.

God is saying positive things, listen to His voice. Don't let the world's voice drown God's voice out.

Paul said "the joy of the Lord is my strength"....he wrote this from a prison cell! In that prison he wrote letters that inspire us today.

When the enemy says you won't come through this, say: "yes I will because God gives me strength, and will supply all my needs."

Look at who Jesus says you are and believe in God's promises today.

Jesus saw fishermen in their boats and said: "Follow me". They left their nets, their livelihoods and followed!

Can you imagine someone walking up to you saying "follow me" and you just leaving everything?!

Isaiah describes Jesus as gentle: "a bruised reed he will not break". He also said he would not be not attractive. So they didn't follow for looks or under duress.

Why did they follow and why are other are people still following?

There is no one like Jesus.

There is no other name by which people can be saved. Jesus is the pinnacle of God's grace. If your desire, after this hard life, is to go to heaven then Jesus is THE Way.

If we mention Jesus some people get angry, why? Jesus is different.

Jesus brings light, life, hope and truth to those who turn to him. He will never leave or let you down. He will help you in hard times.

I remember working in a rough environment, people were wrapped up unhealthy addictions in failing relationships. It was then I became a Christian. They didn't like the change, they could see something was different.

The Bible says: "The light shines in the darkness and the darkness doesn't understand." Some of us want to hide in the dark, not wanting things to come to light. To others the dark is all we know, we feel there's no way out.

Jesus is our way out, He is The Light. It's Jesus's light and truth that really set us free. There is nothing that we do or say that can separate us from God's love.

Jesus' followers in the Bible are described as new creations. Born again, not as babies but because of God's Spirit giving new life.

Those fishermen probably would have been smelly, rough around the edges and not perfect; Jesus loved and called them to be his top followers, disciples. Your life may be full of bad choices, disappointments, sadness and hopelessness....you can do your best and try to escape this, but it's only through God that things really change. Believe who Jesus is, say sorry and commit to follow Him.

It's a constant battle to stay in the light as the darkness wants to keep you. There is hope. Have faith, God is with you, not because you are good but because He loves and forgives you.

The love, power and authority of God makes people drop everything. Regardless of your background or age you can have a new life.

We are not called to walk in his shadow but to be filled with His Spirit, walking by his side, like those disciples.

Jesus said...."Follow me" and that is what he says to you today.

Negative thoughts invade our minds, some people actually hear horrendous voices telling them awful things, it's torture!

Karl Pilkington said he's like a battery with positive and negative things going on in his head.

Then if we listen to the news it's all bad.

We speak a lot of rubbish, even in our prayers, focusing on problems and not promises.

It's what God says that counts, not negative voices and thoughts.

When David's family disregarded him as just a shepherd, God called him a King!

When Moses, another shepherd, feared and doubted, God said: Go, set my people free!

Moses heard The Voice of the great I Am. Jesus later said I AM the Resurrection, The Way, The Truth - Jesus was declaring who He is: God as a man. Jesus is The Door, The Way, to God.

When we believe we have God's Spirit, it means I Am resides in us making us stronger. Greater is He that is in us than he who is in the World.

When we believe, speak and pray we have faith.

How do we have faith? By speaking the Word of God into each situation, combating negative thoughts with God's promises to us. Answers aren't always instant. We need to persist.

It's easy to listen to the negative voices and feelings and give up, but look at the results if we believe. There's always opposition, just keep listening to God.

A Word spoken is a seed. Later the fulfilment of the seed happens. Persist in God's promises and not problems, be promise focused.

Let's put God's promises as priority, not problems that choke us, and listen to His Voice today!

Eternal versus external.

Life is temporary. At this transition point in my life I wonder...Do we live life set on eternal purpose, God 's way, truth and life; or on the external, what the world says?

It's easy to become distracted by human desires: grades, acceptance, we long for an incident free day, that top car, top job, perfect body, health - when we get things we are still not satisfied!

If we focus on material it's a gift that keeps us needing!

The Bible says we have nothing at birth and take nothing out at death...so why are we so concerned with things?!

Nothing lasts these days, there's a built in adolescence in us, like in modern machines.

Society teaches us to look for one thing, then move to the next.

Why do we worry about people....God loves us.

Money?...God can and will provide as we trust and work for Him.

Life built on obsessive external leaves us empty.

I am young, with lessons to learn.....but I have noticed among Christians from young to old this external vs eternal battle.

Example of one who ditched the external is Rahab, a prostitute in Jericho. Joshua sent in spies to suss out the city they wanted to take over. Rahab had an opportunity to turn them in, this could of set her up, been an escape from prostitution....but she chose the eternal. God used her in his eternal purpose. Her denial of the external resulted in far more precious results....she was blessed, saved, her story still lives on.

Will you live your life a slave to the external, trying to control everything? How many times do we look down to worry, shame judgement, oppression?

How many times do we look up?!

How do we get into this frame of mind? Then Bible is the must have handbook. Don't spend time being more interested in the roadblocks and potholes than the journey.

Eternal has t like a cross. External has X before the t, distorting the cross: we attempt to focus on God but have distorted views.

You can't serve external and eternal.

Do you want to seek purpose in the external, the gift that keeps us needing, a life based on the conflict of external and eternal? Or will you base life on the eternal and be set free today?

With crime on the increase, violence escalating, fear of further terrorist attacks in mind – what a mess we are in!

It seems we are living through an era of unprecedented unrest, as in the days of Noah, a world full of violence, many not concerned about God.

God said to Solomon...if my people who are called by my name and will seek my face...then I will heal their land and bless them.

Humility, prayer, living good lives is the way forward. When we pray God promises. He hears every word we say.

When I became a Christian I was soon voted in as a deacon, I had no clue what I was doing! When asked to open in prayer, I panicked. Feeling scared I just did it, and thanked God. You might feel awkward or feeble in prayer.... the power, it's not in you, but in God.

God is attentive 24/7 we can pray as we shop, drive, work or anytime. The Bible says pray without ceasing in any and every opportunity.

If we have a problem do we keep on praying?

To get the nation on its feet we need to get on our knees.

A Monday evening prayer meeting set up in 80s in East Germany, 70,000 people ended up praying. Then the wall came down! In fact the BBC made a programme called “Prayer pulled down the Berlin Wall!”

Even when your faith is bruised, you feel knocked down, oppressed or depressed remember a mustard seed of faith can move mountains.

You are not speaking to fresh air.

It's hard when you pray and it goes in the opposite direction, sometimes we don't know why; even with lots of problems, don't let them stop you praying. Words of faith have power. You might be angry and upset but keep praying, be honest and pray.

Sometimes all we can do is say: “God help me”

It doesn't have to be long, just sincere.

If we want to change circumstances and save the nation we have to pray, and not give up!

Prayer moves mountains and changes things, even the impossible so let’s start praying today!

Two people walked along with a man, they shared about how they had lost their friend, leader, a prophet and mighty teacher, they thought he would save them. They had lost hope.  The irony is, the man whom they shared with was he who they spoke of! He walked with them in their disappointment, he reminded them of what the prophets had said, but they just couldn’t see. Heading in the wrong direction they needed to get back on the right track.

 

They asked Jesus to stay. During a meal when Jesus broke the bread they recognised him and he disappeared.   They said, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven telling them: “It is true! The Lord has risen!...”

 

We might relate to these two: unfulfilled dreams, bad situations, feeling lost and despondent. We hoped beyond hope, asked God, got discouraged, walked away from God.

 

Maybe we want to give up...we think things should be sorted by now, we lose hope and faith.

 

When you are discouraged, despondent, the very thing the enemy says is:  “God doesn't care...if he cared God wouldn't let this happen”

 

Lies! We get a wrong perception of Jesus.  We go from commitment to wandering.  

 

The final straw can be when Christians let us down, and when we let others down...this is a bad example of Jesus!

 

God calls us to a path leading to Him. These two went on a despondent detour but got back on the right path.

 

God will lead us home, it might be a long walk back.

 

Our faith is God giving His love to us through Jesus, reaching out to us so we can live.

 

Wherever you are on your journey, on track, waiting, disappointed or have wandered away, God is faithful, He loves you, He knows you and wants you to follow him home.

 

We can dwell in situations, worry, or talk what God should shouldn't be doing...or we can hand things over and trust God and His faithful goodness.

 

God doesn't promise life will be easy He promises He'll always be with us.

 

Jesus said I Am....not I was.

 

Get back on track and walk with Jesus today.

Growing up in Kibera Slum, Kenya, Lox knew what it was to be in need. Education was a luxury and medical treatment meant missing out on food. Girls especially missed out on education because of poverty and as it was not the done thing – this particularly troubled Lox, but what could he do?

So, how did Lox cope? He learned, like Paul in the first century, to be satisfied. He found a joy that does not depend on happiness, things going well, having food or possessions. He found the joy of the Lord, which became his strength.

Paul wrote a letter saying: “…for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Lox has known hunger and plenty. He has lived in lack and comfort, but he shares how, in both, we can have joy from God that lasts, and that God is faithful.

In good times God is with us, in tough times God is still with us. So, when things go wrong turn to God to give you strength as the joy of Lord to increases in you.

As Lox watched his sister lose her life, when he was hungry, faced lack or struggles he turned to Jesus who gives him strength. Like Job in the Old Testament who faced horrific losses, was criticised by his friends and suffered terribly he said “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him”

Lox’s desire to see change drove him to act. He got the education and now, with his wife Ruth, acts to help others. Through them girls are being saved from abuse; children, orphans, are being kept safe, fed and educated. Schools, homes and medical facilities are being built. People are learning new skills. Fairtrade Football coaching is opening doors. Their hope in God is alive and actively giving hope to hundreds of others.

Lives are transformed through our actions.

Remember in good and bad - God will never abandon or forsake us.

How much are you trusting God in the high and the lows?

It doesn't matter what comes our way, the joy of the Lord is our strength.

Sounds of skilful guitar play filled the street but something was amiss…the busker was strumming but not playing cords – behind him was an amp pumping out the music – he was a fake - yet some people still donated money!

Jesus battled with fakes, religious people more keen on religion than God Himself, strict on rules but tight on grace and love. Brood of vipers, whitewashed tombs, hypocrites is what Jesus called them – he went so far to say that “religious” people, even some calling Him “Lord” were so insincere they may not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. 

The world is full of fakes, conmen, deceivers and frauds...they use Jesus' name but don't even believe in him. Like fake money, they look good at a glance but at a closer look, it’s worthless. Jesus described them as “wolves in sheep’s clothing”. Some may ask for money for healing: “Send £1,000 I'll heal you” - Horrible! This fake Gospel has no salvation. 

Some say they are followers of Jesus but that His death is not enough – you need to do this or that to “earn” your place in heaven. Jesus said all who turn to Him will be saved – it costs us nothing, and cost Him everything, all we need do is genuinely believe and follow sincerely.

Some use Jesus’ name in vain for private profit, some use it as a swear word - those who misuse Jesus’ name are at risk.

Jesus warns us to watch out for liars, who come in to deceive - one day they will give an account, He tells us to look out for the fruit of people’s beliefs. If some are spending millions on jets, mansions and things but neglecting the poor then does this weigh up?

This is how we should live: Love God, love our neighbours and do to others as you would have done to you.

Ask, seek, and knock for Jesus, the door will be opened. Listen and act.

People can't give you salvation; Jesus is the way, the only one who gives salvation. 

Some people sell happiness. Happiness comes and goes in life, but the joy God gives never goes away. 

Most fathers know how to give their children good gifts, some might fail in this, but our Father in Heaven will never fail us and knows how to give good gifts.

There’s only one name that can help you, one name above all names - Jesus.

Believe in Jesus and you are free, whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. 

Please don’t think it is too late for you, you are too bad, too hurt, too different or it is just not your thing….

Call of the name of the Jesus and be saved today!

Blood sweat and tears, is that how you view life? Worn out and tired, you work hard for your food. 

Consider childbirth, so painful! What about the blood? 

We need blood. If we cut ourselves we bleed, but we heal. Blood keeps us alive.

The Bible says lots about blood. In Old Testament times it is written that if you did wrong, blood was needed to be shed; sheep, bulls, or lambs blood. A river of blood flowed from the temple....animals were sacrificed for wrongs.

Sin is Serious. Someone has to die to deal with our bad choices, actions, thoughts and words.

We're not perfect, we go wrong, rebel against God.

If we think we do no wrong, we deceive ourselves. 

We all like sheep have gone astray, turned to our own way.

Where will you end up, lost and alone, in a pit?

If we were under the law we would have to sacrifice a lamb to be clean. This is not the case now.

Good news, if you want out of all these laws and mess, look for the Lamb of God. John the Baptist said of Jesus, ‘he's the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world’.

Isaiah prophesied,’ Jesus was pierced for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities’. 

Jesus loves us so much He laid down his life on a cross, the last blood sacrifice. Jesus Christ died for our wrongs....blood sweat and tears, the agony of the situation. Jesus cried out ‘my God why have you forsaken me’…

Because He loves us so much, Father God was separated from his only Son. Why, because no imperfections can stand in Gods presence – Jesus’ sacrifice makes us clean, he took the punishment, paid the price, offering us the way in.

We will all meet God.

You can meet him, cleansed, healed, by the blood of the lamb, and be accepted.

Or will you meet him as you are, wandering in your own way, imperfect...then you will end up in the
pit.

Would you like to know you are perfect in God’s sight? Is God calling you, can you hear His voice?

God loves you.

God loves you so much He sent Jesus, His Son, so we could be made part of His family. The love of God is greater than any words we speak or write.

God's love cost the highest price.

The perfect man, God in man's form, Jesus, laid down his life.

He was beaten, bruised, abused, then crucified...beyond this, the agony, a pain we can't imagine, was Jesus' separation from His Father God. Drenched in the sick sins of the world the only perfect soul was polluted by our bad choices, wrong words, selfish acts and worse. Punishment for everything wrong was inflicted on Jesus.

Jesus cried out: "My God My God why have you forsaken me?"

Jesus' blood flowed as he was separated from His Heavenly Father by all the wrongs of humankind, "sin"; it is Jesus' blood that reconciles us with that same Father.

Accountability....when wrongs occur there is a cost, God wants justice, He is Justice and Love. Sin can not stand in Holy God's presence, and we are steeped in it because non of us are perfect, no matter how much good we do we can't pay the price. Jesus took all sin away, paid it's price and if we go to Him we can be made like new, spotless, blameless, forgiven, free.

We all wander off like lost sheep, The Good Shepherd is calling you home.

The journey of life might be tough, we face heartbreak, hurt and pain.

God is with you. God will never leave or forsake you.

On the mountain of joy God is there, in the valley of sorrow God is still with you.

Once God has started a good work in you He will be faithful until it's done. Remember God's power, don't give up. When trouble comes hang on to hope, be strong in God's power.

Reflect God's Light, give hope to others.

Realise and remember, God loves you today.

BSo you're on a journey and your friend wants to do a 70 mile detour, across the desert, on foot, just to meet one lady! 

This is what Jesus did to meet a woman at a well. This is what he does for us, and more.

The woman was there in the midday sun probably avoiding other people, ostracised by her community. In culture's eyes two things should of made Jesus avoid her: because she'd had six husbands and because she was a Samaritan, a race the Jews then generally avoided.

But that's not Jesus. Jesus is love, He values everyone.

When Jesus said to the lady, "where's your husband?" He isn't judging, but sees her potential to be part of His family. We're all flawed individuals, but Jesus meets us with love and compassion, sees our potential.

She was looking at the here and now, Jesus is looking at eternity.

What we do in the here and now affects what's happens to us in eternity. God will never force us to love him.

She had a thirst for water, but also for something else. She went from relationship to relationship to feed a void...today we might use money, sport, success, relationships to fulfil our needs, but it's only God that can fulfil the void in us. God made us, He knows us, good and bad, sadness and pain. Are we pursuing him? 

Even those who have it all still aren't satisfied.

Once we have God with us we still go through the pain, hurt, disappointments, but we have a Father God who is with us through it all. Life hurts, God can heal.

The woman tried to change the subject to tradition, but Jesus points her back to The Holy Spirit, reveals He is the Messiah, the one who came to save us! This must have affected her, she went back into the village and spoke of it to everyone!

The Father is looking for you to tell you that He loves you and give you His gift, Jesus.

Is Jesus greater than any issue you have, greater than any possession or relationship? We need to make Him greater than everything. He wants you to believe in Him, reach out to Him and follow Him, just like the lady at the well did. Maybe you once did, but you lost your way? He's calling you back to heal your hurt.

If we knew the amazing gift of love God has given to us, for free...Jesus, could we really take it in, or turn it down? 

Jesus came once and He's coming back! We are free to accept Jesus, or we can ignore the gift of God. Are you ready?

Stop looking for love, fulfilment and hope in the wrong direction....turn to Jesus today!

Have you ever imagined what heaven is like? Actually seeing Jesus face to face....amazing!

There is one who waits for heaven, she listens. Sometimes she hears His name in a conversation. She waits, remains alert, He could come for her, even today. Who is this? The bride of Christ, all who believe in Jesus.

There is only one marriage in heaven. Because of Jesus,
in
heaven we will be pure, like angels. There is a marriage in heaven, a supernatural matrimony. 

Pure love flowed from Jesus on the cross, preparing His bride for perfection. Jesus waits in heaven to return for His bride, for whom He paid the ultimate price.

Many don't know the true identity of Jesus' believers. We are not treated as we deserve, we all do wrongs, but God moves those wrongs as
far as
east is from the west. Because Jesus paid the price for our imperfections on the cross we can all be forgiven. Jesus gave up his life to give us life. Jesus literally loved us to death. His blood washes us clean.

Weddings can cost thousands. In
the
past a bride's family paid the dowry. But in our case the groom paid the dowry, by His blood. 

You can't pay for salvation. If you live a million years you can't work to earn your salvation. You can't buy a free gift! 

Have you accepted your invite, are you going? Are you ready? Jesus wants you.

Jesus said there would
be
wars, and rumours of wars. Recent events echo this. 

When will Jesus return? 

If he came today, are you ready? 

Status on earth is irrelevant, the only place that's relevant is to have your name is in the Lambs Book Of Life mentioned in the book of Revelation, all are invited.

Jesus is coming back, sometime soon. We can't afford to leave things undone...it could be today, tonight! Don't be left behind, follow Jesus today.

When earthquakes hits they might just shake us up a bit; sometimes their affects can be devastating.

Sometimes life shakes us up, disturbs our peace, makes us anxious and afraid: bad news, illness, pain, suffering loss or hurt. Perhaps, like the earthquake, there's something at fault with us.

We can find rest in the fact that God loves us.

In the upper room John sat, resting his head on Jesus, what a place to be. After Jesus' crucifixion it's reported they hid in a room in fear. Jesus came and stood in their midst, he didn't tell them off....he said "peace be with you"

If we haven't got peace we've got nothing.

If we have peace we have it all. Jesus gives his peace, in spite of challenges.

Faith is the foundation of everything. If we lay foundations to build a house and have all the materials around, but don't build up, it's a waste. We should always be building ourselves and each-other up.

"But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!”Jude

If you feel flat it's time to build yourselves up! Pray, have faith and trust God. We can pray for strength and wisdom. We might pray in private, calling out to God from our heart, with the help of the Holy Spirit; for others, with other believers, asking for prayer ourselves.

Remember: God loves us, we should love one-another as He loves us. We are not servants but friends, chosen by God to bear fruit. Give things over to God, if you have a need ask. Be faithful and whatever you ask God, it will be given.

Stay connected, pray in all circumstances, study God's Word, meditate on God's promises.

Faith leads on to other things. Without action, faith is worthless.

On Earth the building never ends, in heaven everything is ready.

A measure of faith is given to all, but don't just settle for a measure, desire more from God.

Here's what to pray:
To really win you have to go on the offence!

We might be in a mess, made bad choices, are mourning, sick, ready to give up, feel anxious, helpless and hopeless, worn out, lost or broken. We can cry out to God like Jabez did. 

He cried out to God. 

Jabez's name meant pain, or he will cause pain. His delivery was so painful! In Hebrew culture a name was significant. But Jabez lived right, he didn't pray reactionary or defensive prayers, he flips it around and prays on the offence.

In 2018 we invite you to pray like Jabez!

“Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.”
The Prayer of Jabez, recorded in 1 Chronicles 4:10 is this:
goodnessGodThere are people God wants you to reach and places God wants you to touch. Don't look at yourself as limited, locked in. You don't have to be famous to have the reach God desires. When

Psalm 2 says: "ask of me and I will make the nations your inheritance."

"May people hear of God through my life and see Your name at work in me." 

We can pray:

Regarding "Enlarge my territory"....he's not just talking about land or property but about influence. 

This is not a selfish prayer, God wants to bless us like Jabez: "And God granted his request"

. I need your blessing that I will experience your kindness and goodness."

Lastly we can pray:
"Let your hand be with me. I want your presence, to feel connected with you. I don't want anything to damage our relationship or get between us. Protect and keep me from harm, so I'm free from pain." 

Pray God will keep us free from things that harm us and the purity and authenticity of our souls.

Jabez's prayer is about hope, trust, peace, blessings and action. It can set you free from fear and doubt. As you constantly look at Jesus you are empowered to face anything, you can be at peace in all things and know you are loved.

I dare you to pray this over yourself, your family, and all aspects of your life today!

Have you ever put petrol in a diesel car? Nightmare! The wrong fuel can cause all sorts of problems; it’s costly and stops you dead.

 

It’s the same with us, with the right fuel we can burn bright, but if we fuel ourselves incorrectly we burn out.

 

In Revelation John describes Jesus’ eyes like blazing fire. God is also described as an all-consuming fire. How do you compare: a blazing light or a smouldering wick?

The disciples waited ten days for God’s Fire, the Holy Spirit, to fill them – how long have we been waiting to be truly ignited; have you grown apathetic, given up? Now is your chance to change!

 

Jesus said it’s wrong to have a lamp and hide it under a bowl; instead, it’s best to put it on a stand and let it light up the room.

 

To have a constant glow we need the right fuel. The Holy Spirit can empower us continuously if we feed our lives with the Word of God, the Bible. But if we starve ourselves of the Truth, filling our lives with only junk: rubbish TV, internet, alcohol, drugs, wrong relationships etc, we will burn out!

 

When Jesus fasted for days his physical strength was weakened, yet His spiritual strength remained at full power because he relied on God’s Word: “Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” Jesus said to the devil.

 

There were 10 women with lamps, only 5 took spare oil; Jesus called them wise and the others foolish. When the bridegroom arrived those with spare oil were ready, but the others were off buying oil. The door was locked and they were shut out in the dark, the groom didn’t know them!

 

This is a warning. Jesus is the bridegroom; we are the people who need the oil in our lamps to shine for him, the spiritual fuel that can’t be put out.

 

The world is a dark place, its darkness will try to consume you, its worries attempt to shut out the light. But we have a hope, a light that shines in the darkness, the Light of Life, Jesus. His hope fills us with light and life. With God’s Spirit in us, we can be filled with faith and light, but we must fuel with God’s Word.

 

Don’t run out. Don’t try to run on empty. Feed your spirit properly and burn brightly for God today.
